My stepmum hasn’t listen to me today!
She has two pills that she takes to help her sleep and they take about half an hour to start making her drowsy so she’s supposed to wait till after dinner to take them, but she often goes to the medication draw to take them late in the afternoon. We usually catch her before she takes them and tell her to hold off because it’s too early but sometimes we don’t catch her in time.
This time I caught her in time and told her to stop because it was only 3:15 and that I was yet to make her tea but she blatantly refused and proceeded to swallow the tablet in her hand before walking back to the loungeroom. I thought she’d wait to take the second after tea.
Nope. By 3:30 she was back at the medication drawer so I ran to the kitchen to stop her but she did the same thing again.
She managed to stay up until 7pm but that means most of the pills effect has worn off and now it’s 11:49 and she’s just gotten up to have a shower. This means she’s going to be in and out of bed from here on out, anticipating sunrise and for me to get up and make her breakfast. Breakfast is still eight hours away. Wish us luck. It’s going to be a long night.
I don’t know what to do about the sleeping pill thing. I mean, the whole refusal thing took me by surprise because she’s never ignored me when I’ve told her not to take her pills. I don’t know if physically taking the medication from her hands is the right thing to do. I had an incident with her and the dishwasher door once before - I was trying to keep her out because the dishes hadn’t been washed yet and she was trying to continue putting the dirty dishes away - and man she is strong. I felt really badly about it after because we’d never had a face off like that, even when she was healthy. Dad’s been talking about taking control of her medication, but in order to do that he needs to hide it. I’m going to have to make him relocate it when he gets home tomorrow.
Woop she’s up again. Now she’s doing laundry. Fun at Dazzleland.
